Founded in 1988, Community Arts Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has been offering a variety of program services for children and adults on the Oregon Coast. Community Arts Project was established to promote community experience of the arts, individually and collectively, and

  • To teach the general public to have fun with art

  • To foster children's self-esteem through the arts experience

  • To focus attention on the creative process as essential to the community and the individual's well-being

  • To encourage imaginative self-expression

  • To promote a creative enviroment where people want to try art

  • To provide the community an arts resource service

  • To network with other community art programs

  • To promote new art and artists

  • To provide continuing education through workshops and classes

  • To continually seek to redefine the arts experience through public forums

  • To encourage the community to surround itself with art in its everyday life

For the last six years Community Arts Project has funded the art literacy program at Nestucca Valley Elementary School in Cloverdale, to the praises of administrators, teachers, students, and parents. This program provides each student with 90 minutes of monthly instruction in art history, criticism, aesthetics, and production. These children also enjoy hands-on opportunities, in an encouraging environment, to produce their own artwork in the style of the artist or movement presented each month.

In January 2006, Community Arts Project expanded the art literacy program to Garibaldi Grade School. In order to secure funding for additional schools, we have established the North Coast Seafood Festival to benefit our ongoing efforts to provide creative experiences to area school children.
